Services under this project will be funded for 18 months with ARRA CSBG funds of $324,000. It is DHS’ intent to divide these funds equally ($162,000 each) between the St Croix and the St Thomas/St John Districts. These funds will provide for the hiring of Employment Coach/Counselors and monthly stipends for homeless individuals participating in the employment counseling services.

November 2009 - January 2012
- One St. Thomas applicant responded to the RFP. DHS requested and gained approval from ARRA Funding Agency, Community Service Block Grant to rebid Employment Services for the Homeless Project on St. Croix.
- Methodist Training Outreach is waiting for an executed grant awards from Property and Procurement. Methodist Training Outreach identified and selected employees who will implement the projects.
- During the month of January, Catholic Charities began their project this month; some of their goals were to empower clients through employment.
- During the month of February, Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands conducted needs assessments and registered 16 sheltered/unsheltered homeless individuals from the St. Croix District to benefit from Employment Counseling. These individuals received training on:
- Resume Writing
- Interviewing Skills
- Customer Services
- Clerical Skills
- Work Place Etiquette
- During February (cont'd) all participants of the MTOC project received employment- counseling training on a variety of topics; A job readiness training session was held February 25, 2010 with 38 participants enrolled.
- During the month of April, four additional clients joined Methodist Training & Outreach Program; Training continued
- May 2010 marked the 14th week of this project; Two job readiness training sessions were held this month, one which began on May 3, 2010 and had 93 participants enrolled. The second job readiness training session that month was May 27, 2010 with 36 participants enrolled.
- The final Job Readiness Training Session began on June 1, 2010 and concluded June 14, 2010. Approximately 60 participants enrolled in the final session. Final count of participants was at 160.
- As of August 1, 2010, 88 trainees were placed with various employers; most with Juan F. Luis Hospital where a strong partnership has developed. The number of trainees who enrolled at the Hospital's program was 172.
- As of September 30, 2010, 112 trainees were placed with various employers; most still placed at Juan F. Luis Hospital. All services ended this month and the project entered liquidation.
- The project was documented as being complete as of January, 2012.
